Alexis attended Louisiana State University for her schooling from 1992 and 1995. She spent a total of two years and eleven months working as a reporter for the El Dorado News-Times, from March 1996 to February 1998.
Alexis worked at South Arkansas Community College from 1998 to 2000, spending a total of two years there. She was a member of the El Dorado Chamber of Commerce for seven years and one month, from August 2000 to August 2007.
During her career, she worked as the Executive Director of the United Way of Union County.
