Bill Little Obituary – Cause of Death: The University of Texas mourns the loss of Bill Little.

Legendary University of Texas Athletics Administrator Bill Little passed away surrounded by family on Friday evening in Austin. He was 81.

Winters, a small West Texas town with a population of just over 2,500, was Little’s hometown as he was growing up. It was here that the man with a huge heart and passion for people was fostered. He was happy to continue in the footsteps of both of his parents when he started his college career at Texas in 1960 because he had grown up a Longhorn supporter who supported everything UT.

Little spent two years writing for The Austin American-Statesman after graduating in 1964, then he relocated to Oklahoma City to work for The Associated Press. He worked for The AP for two years before permanently moving back to Austin and enrolling at The University of Texas.

Bill’s celebration of Life service is set for Sunday, October 1, at 2:30 p.m. CT at the Lady Bird Johnson Auditorium in the LBJ Library (2313 Red River Street, Austin, TX 78712) on The University of Texas campus.

“We lost a great man with a huge heart,” former Texas Football coach Mack Brown said. “Bill loved Texas, he poured his heart into the coaches and staff, and took such joy in working with the players. He was an icon in his business, a Longhorn Legend, and a wonderful man who is beloved by so many. He knew the history of the Longhorns better than anyone, was always right there by my side to celebrate the best of times or help me through any difficult situation. And he did it with charm, grace, and a heartwarming grin.”
