Caleb Chappetta Car Accident; 38-Year-Old Louisiana School For The Deaf Graduate Passes Away

Caleb James Chappetta, 38, died in a multiple-vehicle crash that occurred late Friday night at the intersection of Government St and South Foster Dr. The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that two officers responding to an assistance call were involved in the collision. Caleb’s family and friends are facing a difficult time now.

At the scene of the incident, Caleb, a former Fabrication Technician at Clearedge Wholesale Glass, an Insulator at Dependable Glass Works, and a Quality Control Inspector at Glaztech Aluminium and Glass, was pronounced deceased. In addition, he attended the Louisiana School for the Deaf and Slidell High School.

A significant traffic collision that happened last night at the junction of Government St. and South Foster Dr. about 10:46 p.m. is being looked into by Baton Rouge Police Traffic Detectives.

When a significant crash happened at the specified area, two BRPD Uniformed Officers were responding to a dispatched call regarding an officer in need of help on South 16th St and Government St.

According to BRPD Detectives, a black Chevrolet Impala heading south on South Foster Dr. was struck by a marked BRPD Ford Explorer that was entering the intersection while travelling west on Government St. with lights and sirens active.

In addition, six other cars were involved in this collision. Caleb James Chappetta, the 38-year-old driver of the Impala, passed away at the site. Following the collision, both uniformed officers needed to be taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The probe is still ongoing.
