A new boutique in Bettendorf is helping women improve their self image after going through the difficult transition of the post surgical experience after having cancer.
Forever Me Cancer Specialty boutique in Bettendorf has only been in business for just over six months and is quickly changing lives.
It’s the only store in the Quad Cities area that offers custom prosthetics.
Owner Doctor Kay Knight also has a chiropractic practice just above Forever Me and said that’s what sparked the idea of the unique boutique.

“We started getting ladies coming in with shoulder problems, adhesion, frozen shoulder things like that after a mastectomy,” Knight said.

“When we started hearing that women were going as far as Des Moines and Peoria to find things, we thought gosh this is the Quad Cities we should have something here that answers all of these needs for them,” said Knight.

She said each of their garments are custom fit for each individual need.

“They can mimic the chest well right down to the tiny veins and freckles that are on a lady’s skin and so it really makes her feel whole again,” said Knight.
“Our goal is from the moment of diagnosis is to let women know that they have a team around them they have a good solid place that they can come to, get every product that they need,” Knight said.

One shopper said as a cancer survivor having several surgeries, the boutique was important to her needs.

“I’m almost 2 years out, I had double mastectomy and then i had the reconstruction surgery,” said Carrie Rheingans.
“It’s so hard to find stuff that fits you after you’ve had reconstruction surgery and it’s hard to find soft clothes that make you feel pretty underneath,” Rheingans said.

Aside from fitting women for breast prosthetics they also fit a variety of garments for men as well.
Forever Me will be holding a week long open house until Saturday.
