BOSTON (CBS) — Danny Sheehan, a Marshfield boy whose story has touched countless people across the country, died Sunday morning after a long battle with cancer. He’s only 8 years old.
Danny was diagnosed with Pine Cell Tumor, a very rare and aggressive form of brain cancer, and Leptomeningeal Disease, a cancer in the cerebrospinal fluid in January 2017.
His love for the movie Aquaman spread quickly, even getting the attention of actor Jason Momoa. Danny received a gift and a video from Momoa, along with support from the community.

Danny’s family posted the news of his death on a Facebook page called 4TheLoveOfDanny.
“An angel in heaven. Instead of being here on earth. The surreal and utterly heartbreaking heart can’t even begin to describe this feeling inside,” the post read. “But, I have to believe that what I whisper to you is true. Because I’m not lying. When you wake up in Heaven, baby, you’ll be safe and happy and cozy. You won’t be. You will be with your brother Watch out for me, Dad and everyone. We will be very sad. But you can send us rainbows, butterflies and ladybugs to say hello. We will. let’s hug each other soon. My best friend. Especially my good boy. We love you very much.”
Marshfield Police posted a tribute to Danny saying “You will never be forgotten. We LOVE you Danny.”
At the Boys and Girls Club in Marshfield, “The Believe Bench” and a mural of Danny and Aquaman were dedicated in his honor earlier this year.

Visiting hours will be held at Saint Christine Church in Marshfield on Wednesday, August 11, from 2pm – 6pm. Funeral services will take place at Saint Christine’s Church at 10 a.m. Thursday and a burial shortly thereafter at Couch Cemetery in Marshfield. Attendees are encouraged to wear colorful clothes, “because Danny loves sunshine and rainbows.”
