Easton Wilsey Train Accident – Obituary: In loving memory of Royal boy killed in bicycle-train collision near 101 N. Railroad St.
The name of the boy who tragically lost his life in a bicycle-train collision has been officially disclosed by authorities.
9-year-old Easton D. Wilsey from Royal lost his life on Friday morning. The young boy was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:37 a.m. due to the traumatic injuries he sustained. According to Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup, the fatal incident occurred when Easton collided with a train while trying to cross the railway tracks on his bicycle.
The crash happened near 101 N. Railroad St. in Royal.
According to Northrup, there will be no autopsy conducted at this time. However, there is a possibility of an inquest being held at a later date.
The investigation into this death is currently being conducted by the Champaign Coroner’s Office and the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office.
