German roots from his grandfather. His family lived in Ust-Kamennogorsk, mum's maiden name was Ekman. Thus, he has Armenian, Russian and German roots.

Father was born and raised in the village Khando in Javakheti, a southern region of Georgia largely populated by Armenians.

Eduard Spertsyan is the brother of Samvel Spertsyan (Retired).
