‘Let that sink in’ meme explained

Although many are only learning about the meme after Elon shared his version, it has existed on the internet for a long time.

Joke Explainer notes ‘let that sink in’ is a pun that originates from the same colloquial phrase which means “take a moment to think about that so that you will be able to understand it.”

The meme, when literally translated, means allowing a sink inside.

The original meme is a picture of a sink at the entrance of a door with the caption “let that sink in”.
