In an effort to beef up the experience level on their staff, the Seattle Seahawks appear prepared to add a former NFL head coach.

The Seahawks are hiring former Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier as assistant head coach, according to a Friday afternoon report from Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Frazier, 64, took a year off from coaching in 2023 after a six-year stint leading the Bills' defense. During his tenure, Buffalo finished in the top five in both scoring and total defense three times.

Seattle, which parted ways with longtime coach Pete Carroll on Jan. 10, hired Mike Macdonald as its head coach on Wednesday.

In addition to time spent as the defensive coordinator of four different teams, Frazier served as head coach of the Minnesota Vikings from 2010-13. He went 21–32–1 in his career, leading the Vikings to the playoffs in 2012 but losing to the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round.

Apart from his year off, the former Chicago Bears defensive back has been involved with NFL coaching in some capacity every season since 1999.
