The Moline Police Department will make it official and name a new chief today.
Local 4 News is told John Hitchcock will be named to the position in an announcement later today.
Hitchcock is the current interim police chief, taking over when Chief Kim Hankins retired last year.
He has served in many positions within the Moline Police Department over the past 25 years, including as captain of the criminal investigations division, undercover detective in the street crimes unit and member of the FBI gang task force.
