You can always count on Sky for some quality entertainment.

We’ve already been swept up in some seriously impressive escapism on the small screen this year and one of the latest titles to leave audiences utterly gripped from episode 1 is The Rising.

Coming from showrunner Pete McTighe (The Pact, Wentworth), the series focuses on Neve (played by Clara Rugaard), a young woman who is killed and comes back to life, determined to identify who murdered her – to spice things up, it’s somebody she knows.

With a compelling mystery afoot, let’s highlight how many episodes of The Rising there are to look forward to.

‘A very different take on the typical murder mystery genre’

Serena Thompson – executive producer for Sky Studios – recently shed light on The Rising’s appeal and why it’s set to strike a chord with audiences during a chat with Deadline:

“At the heart of the drama is a very personal, emotive story, told from the point of view of our female protagonist and victim, Neve, and it presents a very different take on the typical murder mystery genre.”

She continued: “Because of this, it was an opportunity to develop a series that would resonate with our audience – and perhaps even surprise them – making it even more appealing for us as storytellers.”

The Rising episodes 1-8 are now streaming on NOW.
