For some, Bel-Air just may have achieved the impossible.
How do you follow up one of the most beloved sitcoms of the nineties, honouring it but still managing to do your own thing?
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air remains a nostalgic gem amongst audiences, but a straight-up remake would arguably have invited too much comparison.
Instead, the Peacock series takes the central concept of its predecessor and gives it the dramatic reboot treatment. The payoff has certainly been worth it, with audiences everywhere championing the bold reimagining of a childhood classic.
With fans fully invested, let’s ask how many episodes are in Bel-Air.
- DMZ: How many episodes?

Episode 8 premiered on Thursday, March 17th and there will be two episodes following shortly after.

Is Bel-Air season 2 confirmed?
Yes, Peacock actually ordered two seasons to begin with.
So, there’s clearly great confidence in the series’ future and has been from the word “go”.
Also, considering two seasons were greenlit at the same time, perhaps we’ll see new episodes arrive later this year or in early 2023.
‘Create with confidence, always’
Director, writer and executive producer Morgan Cooper aimed to create something new with Bel-Air while also respecting the legacy it was born from.
Speaking with VIBE, he previously recounted his experience with Will Smith before bringing the show to the screen:
“I remember him [Will Smith] telling me, to just create with confidence, always. Him truly passing me that baton and giving me the trust to reimagine these characters is an honour and something I take very, very seriously, but it was a responsibility that I wanted.”
With the finale yet to reach audiences, it’s uncertain how the team will wrap things up for season 1. However, knowing that it’s already renewed, the door to the mansion is sure to be left wide open for more stories.
Bel-Air is now streaming on Peacock.
