Figuring out the best time to buy something requires constant watch over ever-fluctuating online prices, and some knowledge of how prices have changed in the past. Luckily, you don’t have to figure it all out yourself—there are great tools to help you do it. We’ve compiled five of the best that will let you know when it’s time to strike.
CamelCamelCamel
CamelCamelCamel is one of our favorite ways to get discounts and track prices on Amazon products. You can install the browser extension (Chrome and Firefox) to get access to the site’s features without leaving Amazon, or you can just copy and paste an Amazon link or product name at the web site. CamelCamelCamel shows you how the price of the item has gone up or down over time, how prices have changed through Amazon directly and the fluctuations from third-party sellers who list new and used items on Amazon.
If you sign up for a free account, you can set up alerts so the site can notify you by email when the price of an item drops below a certain amount, if you can get it used for a given price, or if it’s at an all-time low and now is a good time to buy. You can even see previous historic highs and lows, and try to map out the best time to strike.
Subscribe for 2 years and get an extra 1-month, 1-year-, or 2-year plan added to your cart at checkout.
Honey
The Honey extension, which is available on Chrome, compares prices from a whole bunch of retailers, including Amazon. You can create a Droplist, which notifies you if the prices drops for an item on your list, if you’re willing to wait for a deal. Honey also finds promo codes and applies them to your card automatically when you’re shopping on a retailer’s website. Honey is available on Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge and Opera.
Honey users can also collect Honey Gold, a percentage back from online purchases made at more than 4,500 stores. Gold can be traded for gift cards to stores like Amazon, Groupon, Macy’s and more.
SlickDeals
SlickDeals is well known for bringing you up-to-the-minute discounts, coupons, and other deals from around the web, but their web-based price tracker is also great for watching prices on just about any item on Amazon, and on a ton of other popular shopping sites, like Newegg, Gamestop, Chwey, Home Depot, and others.
The service doesn’t give you detailed price history like some of the others in the roundup, but it will track the price of your item from when you create an alert going forward, and send you an email if the price drops below a threshold that you set. You can also return to the price tracker at any time, log in to your account, and see all of your tracked items on the same screen.
Wikibuy
Wikibuy, run by Capital One, compares prices from other sellers when you shop on Amazon. The extension will notify you if a product you are looking at is cheaper somewhere else, and offers a summary of pricing history, estimated delivery time, and total price including tax and shipping. If you can apply a coupon, it’ll add that too. When the price drops for a product you’ve viewed, Wikibuy will notify you. The extension is available for Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari, and an iOS app allows you to scan barcodes and search products to do price comparisons from your phone.
When you shop, you can earn credits for your purchases at some websites, like Walmart and eBay, that Wikibuy has partnered with. You can trade that credit for gift cards, or put it toward purchases through Wikibuy’s site.
CheapShark
While most of the others in the roundup focus on products like electronics, apparel, household goods and appliances, CheapShark snuck into the nominations as a great option for gamers looking to save money on video games. CheapShark combines all of the great places to get discounts on games in one place, one easily searchable directory and database of current prices, from sites including Steam, GoG, Green Man Gaming, GameStop, Amazon, and more. Of course, it’s limited to video games, but you can search a game name not just to see how much it’ll cost you to buy, but even if you can buy it at all—and which retailer has it available. If you want, you can even filter by games currently on sale at their selected stores.
When you search for a specific game, CheapShark does tell you what the cheapest-ever price was, when it hit that price, and gives you the choice to either go ahead and buy it from your choice of retailer, or to sign up for a price notification if it drops again.
You’re going to shop, so why not save?
Who doesn’t like a deal? The little thrill of buying something can only be magnified by the knowledge that you got exactly what you wanted for less.
One of the best parts about shopping online is that you can compare prices across any number of sites. That’s also one of the worst parts, though. Combing through site after site trying to find the lowest price for the items you wish had shipped yesterday can take a lot of the fun out of shopping, and leave you with the sting of failure when you come across a better price after you hit “buy now.”
Deals sites save you time and cash. They comb through tons of sites and send you to the ones that offer the most for your money. The sites here take a variety of approaches to deals, from crowdsourcing to getting deal experts involved to lowering prices the more you buy.
Whether you’re trying to save on back to school, shopping for the holidays, or just want to make sure that that one item you have your heart set on won’t set you back, these deals sites have something to offer you.
1. TechBargains
TechBargains is staffed by deal-finding specialists who work 24/7 to update the site with the best deals, sales, and coupons. Though the name says Tech, there are discounts to be found on thousands of other products, including clothing, sporting goods, and furniture. Set deal alerts to be notified when a specific item goes on sale, and follow along on Android or iOS.
(Disclosure: TechBargains is owned by PCMag parent company Ziff Davis.)
Valve is having regular sales on Steam where new and old games are offered for a discount. The sales are a great way of buying games that you are interested in but do not really want to pay the full price for. If you have the time you are probably checking out the sales on the Steam website or client so that you can browse the list of games that are on sale on the day or during all days of the sale.
Sometimes though, you may want to receive alerts instead when a game drops below a certain price point. The main advantage here is that you get the notification without having to check the Steam store for the game all the time. This can be especially helpful when there are no sales, as game prices can drop then as well. While that’s not happening as frequently as during sales, it is still possible that you miss out on the sale because of this.
Steam Alerts is a free web service that you can make use of to monitor Steam game prices to receive notifications when the price of a selected game drops below your threshold. The service supports the following stores:
- United States
- United Kingdom
- Australia
- Europe Tier 1 (Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Netherlands, Sweden or Switzerland)
- Europe Tier 2 (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain or the Vatican City)
To use the service select the location you want to receive alerts for which you can do at the bottom of the page. Once you have done that you can enter the name of a game that you are interested in at the top. Here you then get a list of games matching the name. A click on a game selects the game so that you can create an alert for it.
All you need to do is enter an email address you want the notifications send to and the maximum price that you are willing to pay for that game. You will receive a notification when the price drops below the selected threshold. Repeat the process for all games you are interested in.
What happens when you buy the game or are not interested in the game anymore? You do not really want to receive additional notifications in this case. Click on the manage alerts link at the top and enter your notification email address to check up on all notifications. Here you can remove game notifications so that you do not receive price drop notifications for the removed games anymore. (via Arturogoga)
Steam’s wishlist feature is handy, but it’s not always useful. If you’re waiting for a significant discount on a $60 game, five bucks off probably won’t change your mind. There’s a better way.
IsThereAnyDeal.com can connect to your Steam account, import your wish list, and send you an email notification when a game goes below a specific price level or a percentage value. It’s a great way to save money on new titles and on all that stuff on your wish list.
Connect IsThereAnyDeal to Steam
Before you start, you’ll need to give IsThereAnyDeal access to your Steam account. This is perfectly safe—they don’t get access to your personal information or payment methods. Note that, for this to work, you need to set your Steam profile to public. You can make an account on the site and add games manually if that makes you uncomfortable.
To start, go to IsThereAnyDeal.com and click “Sign in” in the upper-right corner.
In the pop-up menu, click “Sign in through Steam.” You’ll be given a web-based login for your Steam account.
Once you’re back at the main IsThereAnyDeal page, click the arrow next to your Steam username and then click “Waitlist” on the drop-down menu.
Click “Sync Profiles” on the right side of the page. Under the “Waitlist” entry on this page, click “Sync Now.”
This process adds any games on your Steam wishlist to your IsThereAnyDeal Waitlist (which is the same thing, only better). You can repeat this process manually to add or remove items from your Steam wishlist or click “periodically synchronize” to do it automatically.
Set Up Custom Price Alerts
From the page in the above step, click the arrow next to “Waitlist” on the right side of the page.
On the Waitlist page that opens, you’ll see all your wishlist items and the digital stores that are selling the games at the lowest prices
The best price is displayed with its corresponding discount in terms of total price and percentage. Note that these prices are from sellers across the internet that sell digital codes, not necessarily on Steam itself.
Let’s use Attack on Titan from my list as an example, since that game never seems to go on sale. Highlight the game with your mouse and then click “Edit.”
On the next page, you can set a specific price alert in the “Price” field or a percentage cut in the “Price cut” field. I’ll set mine for $30, since I don’t want to pay more than twenty-five bucks for this particular game. In the “But only if” field you can select modifiers: the option to alert only if a store is selling a Steam activation key is very useful, so I’ve activated it. You can set the same condition for DRM-free, Origin, and U-Play games.
Click “Update my Waitlist” to apply these conditions to your price alert, and you’re done! Click the “X” in the pop-up to return to your Waitlist and start on a new game.
Restrict Alerts to Specific Stores
But what if you’re waiting for a sale on Steam because you have some gift card credit that you can’t redeem on any other online store? That’s easy to accommodate too. On the edit page, click “Override default store selection.”
Here you can select specific stores to watch and ignore for alerts. For just Steam, I’ll click “none” in the selection menu and then re-enable only Steam.
Click “Update my Waitlist” again to apply your changes. If you never want to see alerts from specific stores, perhaps because they’re not available in your country or you just don’t want to make another account, click the link marked “manage in your settings.” There, you can hide some stores from all alerts.
Make Sure You’re Getting Email Alerts
Before you finish, you’ll want to check to make sure you’re getting email alerts from IsThereAnyDeal, so you don’t need to check it constantly for price drops. Click the arrow next to your Steam login name and then click “Settings.”
Enter your email in the “Email” field and then click “Save.”
That’s it. You’re now set to receive price alerts via your email inbox.

This is the time of year when your kitchen goes through its annual stress test. Bring on extra guests, extra dishes, extra work and extra time, and see how it does. Maybe you’re wishing you had an extra oven or extra burner to create the holiday meal your family and friends deserve. One appliance worth considering for your home is a combi-steam oven. Wait, what’s that?
“Combi” is short for combination, as these ovens combine convection and steam cooking. What is the advantage of the two? There are numerous advantages, actually, coming from each feature. Convection ovens cook faster than traditional ovens, which means faster food preparation (and lower energy use). They also tend to keep moisture in better than traditional ovens and cook more evenly. Steam ovens keep more nutrients in your food, keep its color better, and eliminate the need for oil. Steaming also prevents cross-flavoring, so you can cook a salmon and chocolate torte at the same time without getting a fishy dessert.
A combi-steam oven may be your favorite appliance at holiday time and year round.
A combi-steam oven, sometimes called convection-steam oven, helps you get your holiday cooking done faster and with more health benefits. It will do just about everything a microwave oven will, including defrosting and reheating, with one exception: It won’t make microwave popcorn. And that’s not a big loss, according to most health professionals.
If you’re thinking of remodeling your kitchen in 2019, consider a combi-steam oven instead of a microwave. (You don’t need both.) You won’t need to run a water line to it either. Many models have a water reservoir that generates the steam without extra plumbing. That can save you money on your remodel, and give you flexibility in its placement. There are plumbed models, too, if you want that convenience. Many models are 24 inches, so you’d add a trim kit if you’re stacking it above a 27 or 30 inch conventional oven. There are now wider models, too.
Costs are going to vary by features and company. The absolute most affordable – no remodeling required, so you can have it for this holiday season – is a countertop model. Cuisinart makes a Convection Steam Oven that sells for about $235 and is available online and at big box stores.
If you’re looking for a larger, built-in model, Samsung’s 30 inch Steam Cook Self-Cleaning True Convection Single Electric Wall Oven has a water reservoir and wifi connection. It’s at the lower-priced end of the built-in model offerings at $2069 on Lowes.com. Higher on the food chain is Jenn-Air’s 24 inch Steam and Convection Wall Oven, with a $2,999 MSRP on Appliances Connection. You might enjoy its temperature probe for monitoring cooking progress. Higher still is Thermador’s Masterpiece Series 24 Inch Electric Single Wall steam Oven. Appliances Connection gave this model its top rating in the category with rave reviews. The price is $3199.
If you absolutely must have a plumbed model, Miele’s 24 inch Contour Line Combi-Steam Oven is an option. You’re going to get the line’s sleek styling and German engineering. It also comes with Miele’s RemoteVision wifi feature, which alerts the factory if there’s a problem. This convenience will cost you $5249 at AJMadison.com.

Don’t miss out on low-priced airfares ever again! With Skyscanner, we’ll show you how to get the best deal on plane tickets for your next vacation with Skyscanner Price Alerts.
What is a Flight Alert?
A flight alert tracks the price of a specific route or flight. When the price changes, you’ll be notified via email or push notification if the price went up or down (and by how much). Flight alerts are completely free and can be stopped at any moment. It is also possible to have multiple price alerts set up at once which is a great option if you are comparing vacation destinations. It really is a must-have tool, especially for budget travelers, because flight alerts are hands-down one of the best ways to find cheap flights, fast.
Why do I need Airfare Alerts?
Flight alerts help you stay on top of flight and route price changes, so you’re informed exactly what is changing and by how much. With the tedious work taken care of and time saved researching price changes, you have more time to plan the fun parts of your vacation!
Does Skyscanner Offer Airfare Alerts?
You bet we do! Whether you are looking for the cheapest route and flights to a specific destination, or just shopping around to see where you can go for the best deal, the Skyscanner price alerts can help you find the best flight deals. Plus, we make it really easy with both desktop and app airfare alert options.
Flight Alert Setup: How to track price changes & score cheap flights
- Open the Skyscanner app or desktop homepage.
- Search for the flight that you are interested in tracking.
- Tap the bell icon in the bottom-left on app (or top-left on desktop)
- Tap ‘Create’ and you’re all set! You will be notified with any price changes.
How do I set up a Flight Alert?
Flight Alerts on Mobile App
- If you haven’t already, you will need to download the Skyscanner app. Select the plane icon to search for flights.
- Search for your flight route and the preferred dates.
- When your search loads, you will notice a round, grey button with a bell icon towards the bottom left of the screen. Click that.
- A small screen will pop up asking if you want to know when the price changes. Click create and you will get a message that you are subscribed. You will now receive price alerts for this route on your specified dates.
Price tracker on Desktop
- To set up Skyscanner flight alerts, you will first need a Skyscanner account. If you have one already-great! If not, you will need to create one so that notifications can be sent to your email address. To do this, look to the top right of the screen-click the log in button- and follow the next steps.
- Once you are logged in, you can conduct a search for the route and dates you are interested in tracking.
- With your chosen route selected, look to the right of your screen. You should see a button with a bell icon in it. This is what you want to click. Once you have done this, you will be notified of any price changes for this route.
How Will I Receive Cheap Flight Alerts?
Price alerts can be received in one of two ways. If you have set up price alerts on your desktop, then you will receive an email every time the price changes. If you signed up for price alerts via the Skyscanner app, then you can choose to receive push notifications for every change.
How Often Will I Receive Flight Alerts?
You will be notified every time the price changes so you can best keep track. As there is no standard for how often airfare changes, there is no maximum or minimum number of times that you will be notified. Our goal is to keep you up to date and help ensure that you get the best deal available and the best way to do this is to notify you every time there is a price increase or decrease.
Top Tips for Tacking Your Flights with Flight Alerts
By tracking your flights you are already doing yourself a huge favor and setting yourself up to find the best flight deals. That being said, there are a few extra steps you can take to help you find the cheapest deals.
- Set up multiple flight alerts. Consider changing the airports at your departure and arrival destination if there are multiple choice or other options nearby. More options will increase your chance for cheap flight alerts.
- Start tracking early. The earlier you set up price alerts, the better chance you have at finding a great deal with seat sales, error fares, and early booking advantages.
- Share your itinerary. If you are travelling with friends, get everyone to sign up for flight alerts so you can all help each other keep track. Even if you are travelling alone, see if a friend or family member will help.
There are many amazing features in the Skyscanner App!
As a streamer, adding alerts to your Twitch, YouTube, or Mixer stream is usually one of the first things you do once you start taking things a bit more seriously.
Setting up Twitch alerts, while easy once you learn how, can be confusing at first since there are so many different ways to add new notifications to your stream.
In this guide I’ll go over your options for adding alerts to your stream using OBS Studio, and give you a quick “how to” for each.
Here’s What You’re Going to Learn
After you’ve gone through this guide, you’ll know how to add new follower notifications to your stream, as well as any other alert you want for new subscribers, donations, etc.
This tutorial will show you five different methods for setting up alerts using some of the best software for streaming, so that when you get a new follower, subscriber, or donation while you’re streaming it’ll pop up on your stream for your viewers to see.
Guide Length: 5 minutes
Table of Contents
Streamlabs
Streamlabs used to be called TwitchAlerts when they first started out, since their core feature was giving streamers the ability to display alerts on their stream.
They’ve added a bunch of other features since then, but for this guide we’re focusing on the Alert Box widget, which will allow you to get notifications on your stream.
Streamlabs has the following alert notifications for you to choose from:
- New follower
- New subscriber
- New donation
- Host
- Cheer/Bits
- Raid
- Redemptions
- Merch
*The Redemption and Merch notifications are for features that are specific to Streamlabs.
Here’s How to Set Up the Streamlabs Alert Box:
1 . Login to the Streamlabs dashboard by connecting your Twitch, YouTube, or Mixer account.
2 . On the left sidebar, find the Alert Box under the Widgets menu and click on it.
3 . Choose which alerts you want displayed on your stream by unchecking the notifications you don’t need.
4 . Now click on the specific alert settings tabs you want to use and play around with the customizations to make necessary edits for your stream.
5 . When you’re finished making the alert edits, make sure to hit Save Settings (found at the bottom), then scroll to the top of the Alert Box page where you’ll find the Widget URL.
*The Widget URL is what you’ll be adding to your OBS Studio to make the alerts show up on your stream.
Scroll down to the end of this guide where I show you how to add the URL to OBS.
For a more in-depth guide on how to customize and set up alerts in Streamlabs click here.
StreamElements
To get alerts on your stream using StreamElements we’ll need to work within their overlay scene editor where they have all their stream widgets incorporated.
StreamElements has the six standard alert types (follower, donation, subscriber, cheer, host, and raid), and can be customized using different images/videos, text, and even custom CSS.
Here’s How to Set Up the StreamElements Alerts:
1 . Login to your StreamElements dashboard, then click on the My overlays link found in the left sidebar menu.
2 . Next, click on the blue CREATE NEW OVERLAY button.
3 . In the window that pops up, name your overlay and choose your resolution (you don’t need to input “what game is this overlay for?” if you don’t want to), then hit Submit.
4 . Click the pencil icon on your overlay widget that says, “Go to overlay editor” when you mouse over it.
5 . Click on the Widgets option in the top left menu, then find the AlertBox widget and click ADD.
6 . Now on the left hand side you’ll see your list of alerts where you can deselect any of the alerts you don’t want displayed on your stream.
7 . Click on any of the gear icons next to a specific alert type to make any customizations to your alerts.
8 . When you’re done editing your alerts, click Save, then Launch (bottom left). Then copy the URL so we can add it to OBS.
Thinking of Getting a New Webcam?
