Never lose your car again.

If your car has a Bluetooth stereo, then you can set your iPhone to remember exactly where you parked, and mark the spot in your iPhone’s Maps app. Once enabled, you’ll never lose your car again. The process is automatic: Whenever you leave your car, the marker is placed. Let’s see how it works.
Several factors need to be present for you to just walk away from your car and have Siri make a note of its location: You must have a modern-enough iPhone, a car with a compatible Bluetooth stereo, and you must switch on the feature on your iPhone. If you have all of those covered, then this really is a set-and-forget feature. Or set and not-forget, I guess.
How Show Parked Location works
Show Parked Location is ingenious. All it does is to watch for when your iPhone disconnects from your car’s Bluetooth, and makes a not of where it happened. Then, it marks this location on a map. Later, when you return and can’t remember where you left the car, you can easily find this location by opening up the Maps app.
How to set your iPhone to remember where you parked
To use the Show Parked Location feature, you need to be running iOS 10 or later, and an iPhone 6 or newer. Go to Settings>Maps, and then scroll down to Your Car. Then toggle the switch for Show Parked Location. That’s it, phone-wise, but you have a little more work to do if you haven’t yet connected your iPhone to your car’s stereo. That’s beyond the scope of this article, but you can check Apple’s own support page for help.
How to find your parked car with Maps on iPhone
When you return to the warren of streets in the old part of town, or the huge gridded expanse of the Megamart parking lot, you can find your iPhone easily. Just open up the Maps app, tap the search field, and the list of suggestions will already include Parked Car as an option. Just tap this to see your car’s location on the map. From there, you can have the Maps app give you directions, just as you can to any location. I love that all the regular transport options apply, too — Drive, Walk, Transit, or Ride. I imagine the irony of somebody finding themselves so far from their parked car that they have to take public transit to get to it.
How to manually remember your parking spot with 3D Touch
If you don’t have a fancy Bluetooth car stereo, or if you ride a bike instead of using a car, then you can still mark your parking spot. The rub is that you will have to remember to remember, because this tip involves manually marking a location with the maps app. The good news is that, if you have a 3D-Touch-enabled phone, it’s super easy to do.
To mark your spot, just press hard on the Maps app icon, and then pick Mark My Location from the options that pop up. Then, when you’re returning and can’t remember which lamppost you locked your bike to, you can open the Maps app and you’ll see Marked Location at the top of the suggestions list that takes up almost half the screen.
Now you know how to let your phone look after your vehicle, you need never worry about losing it again. Unless it gets stolen, of course.

It’s no fun to end your trip wandering around looking for your car. Now, thanks to a new iOS feature, you don’t have to–let’s take a look at how to take advantage of the “Parked Car” reminder in iOS 10.
What Your Need
Over the years, there’s been a plethora of iOS apps that help remind you where you car is parked. Some of them are standalone single purpose apps. Others, like the popular GPS/driving software Waze, include a parking reminder tool.
With the release of iOS 10, however, Apple introduced a welcome improvement: parking reminders integrated right into the Maps app built right into iOS. Now it’s easy to check where your car is without third party apps…or remembering yourself.
So what do you need? First you’ll need an iOS device with a GPS chip (all iPhones and cellular-enabled iPads) running iOS 10 or above, which is available now.
Second, you’ll need a car with Apple’s CarPlay integration or some sort of integrated Bluetooth (the parking reminder uses the loss of the CarPlay connection/Bluetooth signal as a marker that the car is parked). If your car doesn’t have Bluetooth, you can always add it yourself with one of these kits.
If you meet those two requirements, let’s look at ensuring the feature is on and linked to your car and then how to use it.
How to Set It Up
By default, the new feature should be enabled in iOS 10 without any fussing on your behalf, but that doesn’t mean everything always goes off smoothly.
Ensure the Parked Car Reminder Is On
It only takes a second or two to check if the setting is on, so let’s do so now. On your iOS device, open the Settings menu and scroll down until you see the entry for the “Maps” app, as seen below.
Select it, then scroll down again until you see the entry for “Your Car”.
If “Show Parked Location” is already on, leave it be and close the settings app. Otherwise, toggle it on.
Pair Your Phone With Your Car
If you haven’t already been using Bluetooth in your car for phone calls or music playback, you’ll need to take a moment to pair your phone with the car. While the setup process varies from vehicle to vehicle, the iOS side of things is always the same.
You’ll need to put your car’s stereo or dashboard system into Bluetooth pairing mode, then navigate to Settings > Bluetooth on your iPhone.
Ensure your Bluetooth is on, as seen below.
Scroll to the bottom of the device list to see the unpaired devices in your vicinity you can pair your phone with. Pair with your vehicle’s Bluetooth connection and you’re ready to go.
Remember, the system only works if your Bluetooth is on. If you toggle Bluetooth off, you won’t get the parking reminders, because your phone won’t know when your car is near.
How to Use the Parked Car Reminder
Once you’ve ensured the Parked Car reminder is turned on and your phone is linked to your car, the Parked Car reminder will automatically set itself every time you park and exit your vehicle. You can absolutely ignore the feature until you need it, but you may wish to interact with it proactively.
First, let’s look at how you can use the Parked Car feature even if you do absolutely nothing. Any time you’re away from your vehicle, you can check your notifications–in the screenshot below you can see the parking reminder on the iOS 10 lock screen notification panel–and look for “Map Destinations”. There you’ll find an entry for “Parked Car”.
You can also access the Parked Car reminder by opening the Maps app, swiping up on the address search bar to reveal previous destinations, and selecting “Parked Car”.
Regardless of the way you access the menu, you’ll see results like the parking reminder below.
The most obvious function, and the one the requires no prior interaction from you, is to simply tap the “Directions” button and follow the instructions to hoof it back to your car.
There are, however, some handy functions here that are best accessed before you actually need to find your car.
When you first park your car and get out, iOS will notice that you’re parked. You can immediately pull up the Parked Car feature and do several handy things. First, you can tap the “Edit Location” button, if you’ve noticed the GPS locating has hiccuped a bit or is otherwise inaccurate, and re-position the parking marker. If, for example, your car is buried in a giant multi-layer parking structure, it might be handy to move the marker to the actual street entrance to the parking structure so the return instructions will guide you back to the appropriate entrance.
Speaking of giant parking structures, this brings us to two other handy functions: the photo and note function. Rather than open up your camera app and take a picture of the parking reminder like the sign that says “Floor 1: Aisle 28A”, you can snap a picture right in the parking reminder menu of the sign (or any other surrounding landmark that will help you find your car) or put a text note in the note slot.
Now you’ll never waste time looking for your car again. Even better, with Bluetooth enabled and your phone paired to your car, you can take advantage of another cool iOS feature–introduced back in iOS 9–location based reminders that are triggered when you exit your car.
New iOS feature reminds you where you parked your vehicle
If you’ve ever parked in a crowded parking lot, you can likely relate to the fact that wandering around looking for your car at the end of a trip is frustrating (and embarrassing). Now, if you have an iPhone, you’re in luck, thanks to a new iOS feature that reminds you where you parked your vehicle.
Of course, this isn’t anything new. Throughout the past few years, there have been plenty of apps designed to remind you where your car is parked. Some of them are standalone apps, while others, such as the popular GPS software, Waze, include a parking reminder tool.
Apple turned things up a notch by integrating parking reminders right into the Maps app built into iOS with the release of iOS 10. This means you can check where your car is without downloading a third party app, or simply remembering yourself (what is this world coming to?).
So what do you need to keep track of your parked car? First, be sure you have an iOS device with a GPS chip running iOS 10 or above. Next, you’ll need a vehicle with Apple’s CarPlay integration or a similar integrated Bluetooth system, since the parking reminder uses the loss of the CarPlay connection/Bluetooth signal as a marker that the car is parked. If you’ve hit these two requirements, you’re ready to get this app rolling.
Set up
The new parking feature should be enabled in iOS 10 by default, but that doesn’t mean everything will always go as planned, so first, be sure the parked car reminder is on. To check this on your iOS device, open the “Settings” menu and scroll down until you see the entry for the “Maps” app. Select it, then scroll further down until you spot the entry for “Your Car.” If “Show Parked Location” is already on, you’re set to go. If not, simply toggle it on.
Pairing your phone and your car
If you’re not familiar with using Bluetooth in your car for phone calls or music, you’ll want to take some time to pair your phone with your car. Although the setup process varies depending on your vehicle, the iOS side of things remains the same.
To begin, you’ll need to put your car’s stereo or dashboard system into Bluetooth pairing mode, then navigate to “Settings” and then find “Bluetooth” on your phone. Ensure your Bluetooth is on, and then scroll to the bottom of the device list to see the unpaired devices in your vicinity. Pair with your vehicle’s Bluetooth connection and you’ll be set.
Using the Parked Car reminder
Once your phone is linked to your car, the Parked Car reminder will automatically set itself every time you park and exit your automobile. Feel free to ignore the feature until you need it, but you might want to interact with it from time to time to make sure everything’s running as it should.
Now you’ll never be walking around the parking lot with a dumbfounded look on your face ever again.

At least once in your life, you’ve probably experienced the frustration and slight panic of realizing you can’t remember where you parked your car.
Maybe you’re getting out of a sports game or a concert, or leaving a crowded shopping mall with armfuls of bags, and you look around and realize that there are no markers, and you didn’t make note of what direction your vehicle was in.
In the past, you would have had no choice but to wander the parking lot aimlessly, occasionally hitting the panic button on your keys and hoping that you were in range of your car. Now, if you have an iPhone that’s updated to iOS 13, those worries are a thing of the past because your phone can always know where your car is parked.
If you have CarPlay or Bluetooth in your car, then all you have to do is connect your phone to your car and change a few settings and the Maps app will automatically drop a pin when it senses that you’ve stopped driving. This means that your phone always knows where your car is parked.

The Maps App on iPhone can pin-point the exact location of your Parked Car. You will find below the steps to Enable “Parked Car Location” feature on iPhone and Find your Parked Car using Apple Maps.
Locate Parked Car Using Apple Maps on iPhone
The “Show Parked Car Location” feature in Apple Maps makes use of Bluetooth technology to mark the exact location of your Parked Car and it can provide directions to the location of your Parked Car.
All that is required to use this feature is to pair iPhone with the Bluetooth System of the Car. This feature works even if your car does not support Apple Play.
If your car does not support Bluetooth, you can consider adding Bluetooth to your car by going for an easy to install Bluetooth Car kit (anywhere from $35 and more).
How Does iPhone Locate Parked Car?
Once iPhone is paired with the Car’s Bluetooth System, it automatically connects to the Car’s Bluetooth System, whenever you get into the car and switch it on.
When you reach your destination and switch-off the Car, iPhone gets disconnected from the Bluetooth system on your Car. When this happens, iPhone automatically marks the location of your car with a Parked Car Marker.
When you return to the Car and switch it ON, iPhone gets connected to the Bluetooth System on your Car and removes the Parked Car Marker.
Step 1. Enable Parked Car Reminder On iPhone
The Parked Car Reminder is enabled by default on iPhone, you can confirm this by going to Settings > Maps and making sure that the toggle next to Show Parked Location is set to ON position.
If “Show Parked Location” option is missing or greyed out on your iPhone, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations and move the toggle next to Significant Locations to ON position.
Next, go to Settings > Maps > scroll all the way down and move the toggle next to Show Parked Location to ON position.
After this, your iPhone will remember the exact location of your Parked Car.
Step 2. Pair iPhone with Car
After Enabling Parked Car Reminder on iPhone, the next step is to pair iPhone with the Bluetooth System on your Car. This can be done in one of the following ways.
Switch on the Car > press the Menu button and select the Phone option on Car’s multi-media screen.
On the next screen, tap on Add Device option and select your iPhone .
You should now see Bluetooth Pairing Request on your iPhone, select the Pair option to add iPhone to the Car’s Bluetooth system.
Another way to pair iPhone with Car is switch on the Car > on iPhone go to Settings > Bluetooth and Select your Car as it appears under “My Devices” section.
Note: Parked Car Reminder works only if Bluetooth is enabled on your device ( Settings > Bluetooth > Switch ON Bluetooth).
How to Find Parked Car Using Apple Maps

There’s a new feature in the iOS 10 update with Maps called Parked Car. It automatically tells your iPhone where you left your car and sends you a notification. This may or may not be useful depending on your needs. Luckily the Parked Car notifications are easy to disable or re-enable if you know where to look, and you can even disable the alerts without losing the feature.
The idea is that you can leave your car in a parking garage or giant parking lot somewhere and not have to remember that you parked in the orange zone on section B of level 8. You can even take notes and capture photos in the Maps app to add the extra specifics.
But if you don’t find yourself in situations where you need help remembering where you left your car, the Parked Car notifications can become annoying and spammy. It’s not useful to know that you parked in front of the restaurant or, you know, in the driveway at home.
Why iPhone sends Parked Car notifications
The new feature in iOS 10 works with both Apple CarPlay and standard car stereo Bluetooth. Maps marks your car’s current location automatically when your iPhone disconnects from CarPlay or Bluetooth.
iPhone sends you an alert to confirm your location has been saved. You can optionally tap the notification to launch Maps and snap a photo of your parking spot or nearby landmarks or jot down parking details.
If you like the Parked Car feature but not the alerts, you can disable Maps notifications without turning off the Parked Car feature. This will disable all alerts from Maps, however, so consider this before you proceed. This could potentially affect alerts when using Maps for turn-by-turn navigation, and at the very least you won’t see follow up alerts to Maps corrections that you submit.
Go to Settings → Notifications → Maps and toggle off Allow Notifications.

Here’s a not-so-secret fact about me: I’m awful at remembering where I parked. It’s why I own a brightly-colored car that can make noise and flash its lights if I press my key fob — without them, I might as well condemn myself to wander through darkened parking garages for hours.
Thanks to Apple’s Parked Car feature in Apple Maps, though, I no longer have to rely on shiny paint or loud noises to help me discover where I left my vehicle: I only have to look at my iPhone or Apple Watch.
How the Parked Car feature works
You don’t need Apple’s CarPlay to get this feature: As long as your car has a Bluetooth stereo and you own an iPhone 6 or later, you should be able to use the Parked Car feature.
The feature works via Bluetooth Low-Energy pairing: When you turn off your car, it disconnects your iPhone from the car’s Bluetooth connection. When that happens, your iPhone automatically makes a note of where the pairing disconnected and adds a Parked Car marker down in that spot.
Once you return to your car and turn it on again, your iPhone removes that marker (until the next time you turn off your vehicle).
How to turn on the Parked Car feature
The Parked Car option should be enabled by default, but just in case it’s not showing for you, it’s easy to turn it on manually.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap the Maps setting.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen.
Make sure the Show Parked Location toggle is switched to the On position.

How to find your Parked Car via Siri
You can find your car from your iPhone or Apple Watch just by asking Siri. Here’s how!
- Trigger Siri by saying “Hey Siri” or by pressing the Digital Crown on Apple Watch.
- Say, “Where’s my car?”
Tap the parked car icon to view the Parked Car screen in the Maps app.

Once you find your Parked Car, you can view a small Maps card that has information about its current location, a button to get directions from your site, the time you last parked there, an option to add notes about where you parked (i.e., a garage level), and an option to snap a photo of where you parked.
How to add information to your Parked Car location
- Tap the Parked Car marker.

How to remove your Parked Car location
Whether you don’t want Maps to show where you parked your car or your location is off enough that it doesn’t make sense to have the marker, here’s how to remove your site.
- Tap the Parked Car marker.
- Swipe up on the Parked Car card.
Tap Remove Car.

What if your car doesn’t show up?
If you’ve confirmed that the Parked Car feature is on in Settings along with Location Services, but still can’t get your car to show up on the map, you may not have a compatible Bluetooth stereo system.
Most every modern Bluetooth stereo and aftermarket system is compatible, but earlier car models may not work with the Parked Car feature.

If you can never remember where you parked your car, check out these apps to keep track.
Having trouble remembering where you parked your car? With the right smartphone app, you can mark where you parked your car and quickly locate it again.
Google Maps allows you to record the location of your car; iPhone users with CarPlay or Bluetooth in their vehicles can also use Apple Maps. Or find a variety of apps across app stores by searching “find my car.” Let’s check them out.
Google Maps (iOS and Android)
You can call on Google Maps to help find your car, whether you have an iPhone or Android phone, though some of the steps differ slightly between iOS and Android. After you’ve parked your car, open Google Maps on your phone.
Android
On an Android phone, tap the blue pin that represents your current location and parking spot. Select the Save your parking option, then tap the option at the bottom for More Info. You can now enter notes with more details about your location.
Tap the Add Photos button to snap a photo of your surroundings. In the Time left area, select a specific number of hours and/or minutes, which can be helpful if you’re parked at a meter. You can also tap Share if you want to share your location with someone else.
iPhone
On an iPhone, tap the blue pin for your current location and select Set as parking location. Press down on the blue pin until you see a section at the bottom for Dropped pin. Swipe up on that section to see more details about it.
Now it’s time to find your parked car. On an Android phone or iPhone, tap the blue pin for your parking spot. Tap Directions and then tap Go to get directions to your car.
Apple Maps (iOS)
You need to tweak a few settings before you can use Apple Maps to find your parking spot. Open Settings > Privacy > Location Services on your iPhone and make sure Location Services is turned on.
Scroll to the bottom of the Location Services screen and select System Services > Significant Locations. You may be asked for your passcode, Touch ID, or Face ID, then turn on the switch for Significant Locations.
Next, go to Settings > Maps and turn on the switch for Show Parked Location. Now the next time you drive somewhere, you can track your car’s location after you park.
Make sure your iPhone is connected via Bluetooth or CarPlay, then get out of the vehicle. When you disconnect from the car, your phone should display a notification indicating that Maps has dropped a pin to show where you parked.
If the notification doesn’t appear, open Apple Maps. Look for the blue Parked Car pin on the map and tap it. If you don’t see it, type “parked car” in the search field, and the car’s location should then appear. Tap the Edit Location button to see an image of your car’s surrounding area. You can also create a note with more details and tap the Add Photo button to snap a photo of your car and location.

Q. I thought Apple Maps on my iPhone was supposed to automatically show me where I parked my car, but I don’t think it’s working. Am I not doing something I should? Location Services was on.
A. Apple added the parked-car marker to its Maps app with iOS 10, but you need an iPhone 6 or later for the feature to work. You also need to pair your iPhone to the car’s dashboard audio system over a Bluetooth connection or have a vehicle equipped with Apple’s CarPlay software. The app does not mark parking spots you use regularly, like the one in your garage or your space at the office lot.
If you have met all the requirements so far, go to the iPhone’s home screen, open the Settings and tap Privacy. When Locations Services is enabled, scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap System Services. In the System Services screen, make sure Frequent Locations is on. Tap your way back to the main Settings screen and select Maps this time. At the bottom of the Maps screen, make sure the button next to Show Parked Location is on.
Once you have done all that, the iPhone should sense when your car stops moving and you break the Bluetooth connection with the dashboard. Once you do, the app automatically records the current location and provides directions back to that spot later when you tap the parked-car icon.
Google recently updated its Google Maps app for Android and iOS with an improved parking-spot tool. You do not need to have the phone connected to the car with Bluetooth, but can just tap to mark your spot when you get out of the vehicle. The Google app for Android also shows the parked location of your car if you have Driving set as your transportation choice for commuting, and Microsoft’s Windows Maps app for its own phones includes a parking-location reminder.
Starting with iOS 10, your Maps app can remember where you parked your car. You can configure it to do this automatically, but in circumstances where you don’t have a compatible head unit, this isn’t going to work.
On the other hand, whether you have a compatible head unit or not, you can alternatively use Siri to remember where you parked your car manually.
Like with any Siri command, you can launch Siri by pressing and holding on the Home button, or by saying “Hey Siri” while in hearing distance of a compatible iPhone. Please note that only the iPhone 6s and later support Hey Siri without being tethered to a power source.
Once you engage Siri, you can say something like, “Hey Siri, remember where I parked my car.” This will make Siri put a car icon in the Maps app where you told her to mark your parking spot.
As long as the parking location is marked, you can launch the stock Maps app on your iPhone and easily get walking directions to your parked car. This way, you’ll never have that lost look on your face ever again.
After you’ve found your car, you can invoke Siri once again and say something like, “Hey Siri, forget where I parked my car.” This will cause Siri to erase your current parking location.
Now, Siri will be free and clear to take another parking command the very next time you need to park your car in a busy parking lot and don’t want to bother with trying to remember where you parked yourself.

Using the “drop a pin” feature on your phone can save you hours of hassle trying to find your motor.
You’ll need a smartphone to do this, but it’s very simple.
There are a couple of ways you can drop a pin.
Firstly, you could open your map app, whether its the one that comes as standard or one you’ve downloaded, like Google Maps.
Once you’ve got this open and on your current location, tap and hold the point where you are and this should drop a pin.
You can then navigate back to that point.
Alternatively, if you’re with a friend or partner, you can send the pin to them.
Use an app like Whatsapp and select the “share my location” option.
This will give you the option to send them a pin, which you can use to navigate back to.

Be sure to send your “current” location and not the “live” location, as this will follow you around for a set period rather than mark where your car is.
The simple tip can solve a problem which plagues many drivers and some have been raving about the trick on social media.
One person tweeted: “My claim to fame? I remembered to drop a pin where my car was parked at the concert, so when all 18,000 of us left, I made it to my car and the hotel in 15 minutes.”
Another said: “I always drop a pin on my phone map and take pics of the level so I can find my car again. Doesn’t stop the anxiety thought.”

Your Car».
