If you want to be able to shop anywhere in Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Switch, you can unlock a Nook Shopping app for your Nook Phone.
To do this, you’ll have to buy 100 items through the Nook Shopping machine in Resident Services. The Nook Shopping app works just like the machine, but you can use it from anywhere on your island.
You can only order five items for yourself a day, but you can mail each friend up to two things a day, making the grind to 100 fairly easy. You can track how close you are to 100 items bought by looking at the “Shop to it!” Nook Mileage achievement. If you’re sending gifts to friends to help bolster your numbers, it’ll also contribute to the “Popular Pen Pal” achievement, which is a nice perk.
You can open this app while on other players’ islands, but you can’t order anything from the app while away from your own island. (This is, however, handy for checking to see if you already have something in your catalog.) You can still order things from the app while on Mystery Island Tours.

The main draw of Nook Shopping is that you can buy new furniture, clothes, and songs every day! Note that the items that appear here are random and change every day!

Purchase Items You Can’t Make With DIY
Nook Shopping allows you to spend Bells to purchase interesting items that you otherwise can’t make using DIY Recipes , including furniture, clothes, and music. This makes it a really worthwhile place to check every day.
Delivery Time
Items purchased on Nook Shopping will be delivered to you by mail on the following day . This is one disadvantage of this service, as you can’t get your items right away.
Buy Previously Purchased Items
By using the catalogues in the bottom part of the Nook Shopping interface, you can re-purchase items that you’ve previously bought! This includes clothes and furniture! If you ever lose an item, or just want to purchase a second one, use this feature!
Can Only Get Items Which Can Be Bought/Sold
This may seem obvious but it’s worth stating: the items that will appear here are only ones which are normally purchasable with Bells ! That means if you obtained an item by another means, you can’t re-purchase it here. DIY items for Bunny Day are a good example.

Purchase Up To 5 Items Per Day
“The number of items you can purchase in one day is limited to 5 per customer.”.
One important thing to note about Nook Shopping is that you can only buy up to 5 total items from it per day! This includes both Special Goods and other Catalogue items . Prioritize the goods that change daily!
Earn Lots Of Bells To Customize Your Character/Island
Unlike Nook Miles, which are somewhat hard to get, Bells can be easily farmed. So, if there’s an item that strikes your fancy, consider simply farming up some money to buy it.
Buy Posters
Once you unlock them by going to Harvey’s Island (Photopia), you will also be able to buy Posters here at the Nook Shopping. These will cost 1000 bells each and you can use them to decorate your rooms with your favorite animal characters!

Buy Something 100 Times
“You’ve used Nook Shopping over 100 times!”.
The main condition for unlocking the NookShopping app on your phone is to purchase something there 100 times! Once you do so, you’ll be able to install the app on your phone and use it at any time.

Items Change Daily
Items sold at Nook Shopping will change daily, so it will be hard to target a specific item. Instead, check every day and buy items that you like the look of, as once you purchase an item it will be stored in your catalogue forever !
Buy K.K. Slider Songs
We recommend prioritizing KK Slider albums from Nook Shopping. Only one song will be available each day, and since there are over 90 of them, collecting them will take a long time. Buy a new song every day!
Buy Items For Your Friends
If someone you know really wants a particular piece of furniture and you spot it in your shop, buy it! You might be able to trade it to them for something else.

Nook Shopping, normally accessible via the ABD at the Town Hall in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, could apparently be accessed via your in-game Nookphone.
In order to unlock the Nook Shopping app on your Nookphone, you will have to make at least 100 purchases via Nook Shopping. As there’s a limit of 5 orders a day, you’ll need to order 5 items for 20 days in order to unlock the app. This could be tracked via the Nook Miles challenges section.
About Nookphone
The NookPhone is a smartphone in New Horizons. It is included in the initial Deserted Island Getaway Package from Tom Nook of Nook Inc. Tom Nook gives the player the Nook Phone on the day after the island orientation party, after discussing the fees the player has to pay.
The NookPhone can be accessed by pressing the ZL button on the Switch controller, or SL when playing with a single JoyCon.
Nookphone Apps
The initial apps on the phone include:
- Camera, allowing a variety of filters and frames for taking pictures.
- Nook Miles, the primary interface for earning Miles.
- The Map, allowing the player to see their island in full.
- Rescue Services, letting the player pay a small fee in Nook Miles to be warped to the Community Center.
- Passport, a customizable profile of sorts.
Other apps players can obtain during their stay on the island include:
- DIY Recipes, allowing the player to view their learned recipes and ingredients needed.
- Call Islander, which grants the option to host another Deserted Island resident via local co-op.
- Critterpedia, which displays every Fish and Bug the player has caught so far.
- Custom Designs, which allows the player to create or edit custom designs.
- Chat Log, letting the player view past messages as well as messages from Best Friends.
- Best Friends List, which displays a player’s Best Friends and allows them to send messages.
- Island Designer, which allows the player to place paths and alter the island’s waterscape and cliffs
- Nook Shopping, which is identical to the feature accessed at the Nook Stop. This is unlocked by purchasing items 100 times within the Nook Stop’s Nook Shopping feature.

When you start on your Animal Crossing island, the only way to purchase decent goods is by spending Bells and Nook Miles tickets at the green kiosk located in Resident Services. Even after Nook’s Cranny and the Able Sisters stores arrive on your island, Tom Nook continues to sell helpful items that you can use to beautify your island or dress up your villagers. The thing is, it can be a little annoying running all the way to Resident Services just to use the Nook Stop. Fortunately, you can eventually unlock a Nook Shopping app and make purchases from anywhere on your island. Here’s how to do that.

When you enter Resident Services, whether it’s in tent-form or an official building, you’ll find a green kiosk to the right. This is the Nook Stop. You can use it to redeem Nook Miles, access the ABD to pay off your loan, or can even spend Bells to order items via Nook Shopping. The catch is that you don’t automatically receive the goods. They’ll arrive in your mailbox the following morning.
At the start of the game, Nook Shopping only allows you to view a handful of items that change every day. But eventually, the services expand to where you’re able to purchase just about any item you’ve purchased before. There’s even a handy menu that allows you to search through Nook Shopping’s offerings by category, whether that be Special Goods, furniture, clothing, or wallpaper and flooring. You can even use the search tool to look up a specific item that you want to buy.
How to unlock the Nook Shopping app on your NookPhone

There really isn’t much to unlocking the Nook Shopping app, but it will take time to do it. The only requirement is that you must place 100 orders using this service. This will take a while, considering that you’re only allowed to order up to five items per day. Once you’ve made the 100th order, the app will automatically get installed on your NookPhone.
If you’re consistent and always purchase at least five items from the kiosk every day from the start of your game, you’ll be able to unlock the Nook Shopping app within 20 days. Just make sure you continue to purchase things even if you don’t necessarily want anything for yourself. You can buy them to give something to one of your villagers, or you could also purchase something and have it sent to a friend instead.
Just keep in mind that even after the Nook Shopping app gets added to your NookPhone, you’re still limited to placing a maximum of five orders per day. It’s just a lot easier to place orders since you don’t have to make a stop at Resident Services any more. But I tell you what, breaking the habit of running to the Nook Stop every day is hard.
Amazon shopping in Animal Crossing

You can open the app when visiting friends’ islands, but you cannot order anything if you’re not on your own island. This is a bit of a pain, but by acquiring access to your Nook Shopping catalog on your phone, you can exchange and catalog items easily with friends.
The most difficult task to unlocking the Nook Shopping app is the limit of items you can order per day on the Resident Services shopping kiosk. You can order up to five items per day on the Nook Kiosk. All items that you order are delivered to your mailbox the following day.
You can also order up to two items per day for each of your friends, which is a nice bonus if you’re attempting to unlock the Nook Shopping app relatively quickly.
Track Your Number of Purchases
The number of items you’ve ordered from the kiosk can be viewed in your Nook Miles app. Look for the “Shop To It!” Nook Miles Achievement.
As an added bonus, if you’re sending gifts to friends to help bolster your progress, it’ll also contribute to the “Popular Pen Pal” Nook Miles achievement.
Making the entire island transform into a five-star tropical paradise is the overall goal of the game, so being able to shop at any position, especially when a jolt of inspiration comes along, is very convenient. Enjoy shopping on the fly!

There’s a whole lot of stuff you can find in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, whether that’s from sinking some Bells, finding them in trees/balloons, or crafting them from a recipe. You can even order them from Nook Shopping in Resident Services with them then showing up the next day in your mailbox.
However, it can be a bit of a nuisance having to trudge over to Resident Services every time you want to place an order, especially because they should really be available from Nook’s Cranny as well.
If you want to cut off some of the hassle, you can eventually get an app on your NookPhone that allows you to place Nook Shopping orders wherever you are.
The kind of items that are available from Nook Shopping are all stuff that you’ve had before, but there’s also a few rotating items that change each day, including fences. To unlock the Nook Shopping app on your NookPhone, all you need to do is order 100 items from Nook Shopping in Resident Services, which you can find on the plaza of your island.

This “challenge” should be completed fairly naturally, though it might take you upwards of a month if you’re just starting out in the game as you can only order five physical items per day from the terminal.
You can also purchase recipes as much as you like, though there isn’t much variety in them so you may just end up with a tonne of duplicates if you’re trying to speed your way through to the milestone.
Like everything in New Horizons, we recommend that you just take it slow and appreciate the progress when it naturally comes. Nothing changes when it comes to ordering items; they still take a day to arrive.
