DES MOINES, Iowa (KCAU) — The Iowa DNR has announced that ice fishers must remove their shelters from state-owned lands and waters.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources said in a release that ice fishing shelters must be removed from properties owned by the state, including parking lots and boat ramps, by Feb. 20.
If ice fishers are camping in their shelters, they can pay for campsites at state park campgrounds after the Feb. 20 deadline, the release said.
The DNR is asking owners of shelters not to wait until the last minute to remove their shelters off the ice. If a shelter falls through the ice, the owner of the shelter is responsible for getting the shelter out of the lake.
