Barbara Eve Harris’s character CIA Director Dot Okoye is seen sporting a gnarly scar on her face in Netflix’s FUBAR but is the wound real?
Arnold Schwarzenegger is back on our screens with his latest TV series, FUBAR, which has exploded onto Netflix in May 2023.
The actor is joined in the FUBAR cast by several big names, notably Barbara Eve Harris whose character, CIA Director Dot Okoye, is seen sporting a large scar on her left cheek – but is the injury real?
Meet CIA Director Dot Okoye
Barbara Eve Harris takes on the role of FUBAR’s CIA director, Dot Okoye, who is introduced in the second episode of the series.
Following a failed mission in Guyana, she wants Arnie’s Luke Brunner and his daughter Emma, played by Top Gun: Maverick’s Monica Barbaro, to team up and work together.
The plan is not popular, however, as Luke and Emma had no idea about their respective professions in the CIA and both got in each other’s way in the previous mission.
Director Okoye reappears throughout the series to brief the Brunners and their team on the next stages of their mission.
But while she may be the director of the CIA, her role is more akin to that of a school teacher, attempting to keep control of her agents who spend most of their time arguing like a group of misbehaving children.
Does Barbara Eve Harris have a scar in real life?
No, Barbara Eve Harris’s scar in FUBAR is not real.
In reality, the wound will have been applied through makeup and prosthetics to give the character a sense of authority and experience as it shows that she’s seen her fair share of action.
It’s not revealed during FUBAR how Director Okoye got the scar but as a CIA operative, she likely suffered the injury while working in the field earlier in her career.
Perhaps getting injured inspired her to take a desk job, allowing her to rise to the rank of director, as a huge scar on her face would have made undercover work decidedly more difficult.
What else has Barbara Eve Harris been in?
Tobago-born Barbara Eve Harris moved to Canada at the age of 6 and has been a regular on our screens since making her acting debut almost 40 years ago in 1985.
Since then, she has appeared in over 100 acting roles with her more major appearances coming in the likes of Side Effects, Prison Break, CSI, 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man, Chicago PD, Messiah and Station 19.
On top of that, she’s also appeared in minor roles in The West Wing, ER, Criminal Minds, Transformers: The Last Knight, The Man In The High Castle, Bosch, Star Trek: Picard, 9-1-1: Lone Star and FBI: International.
