The show Homestead Rescue has been a constant in the lives of those in need of help. Since 2016, the cast of this reality show has helped several people to achieve their dream of living a simpler life. Apart from assisting the families, the cast also teaches people new survival skills that one can use while living in the wild.

With an 8-star rating on IMDb, the show has certainly reached a wide range of audiences, and the eleven seasons are proof of it. The show is running because it is doing well, but like good things, this show has also faced a lot of problems, one of them being constant criticism for its authenticity.

The show stars Marty Raney, father of his co-stars and kids, Misty Raney and Matt Raney. Marty used to be an Alaskan outdoorsman in his early years of life. He also started as a logger in the Alaskan wilderness in the 1970s. As a man used to the wild – he stayed on a homestead in the frigid state – he believes this side of him caught the right people’s eyes, leading him to this show.

Together with his kids, he aims to help those planning to start homesteading. Usually, people who want a simple life away from the fast-paced world think of it.

The latest season, the eleventh season of Homestead Rescue, will premiere sooner than you might think! That’s right, there’s a new season, and it comes out this month on the 19th. As always, the trio will be seen utilizing their building, farming, and hunting skills to help people live off the grid easily.

Although this Discovery series has been doing well over the past ten seasons, there have been occasions where they were accused of faking certain storylines for the sake of the camera.

It’s a reality show, so it’s obvious there would be some embellished parts to add more drama, but the viewers have questioned the show’s authenticity despite this known fact.

Is Homestead Rescue Fake Or Is It Real? The Show Faced A Lawsuit By A Couple! [Credits: Discovery]

A Lawsuit Filed Against The Show: What Went Wrong?

The first time it happened officially was when an unhappy couple filed a lawsuit against the show. According to various reports, the pair appeared in season 1 and was dissatisfied with their portrayal in their episode. Kim and Josh Zabec, the couple above, were already successful homesteaders living nicely on their own. However, their farm, Revolutionary Roots Farm, needed a bit of extra help.

The Raneys had joined the couple to help them fix this farm after pigs destroyed it, which wasn’t a big issue as such. Before the episode was filmed, the production had ensured them that they would be shown for who they were, well-established homesteaders.

However, in the show, they were not only shown as amateurs but were also portrayed as people who didn’t have a single clue as to how to run their farm, which was incorrect. This wrongful representation made the couple feel like they weren’t good enough when, in reality, they knew exactly how to live off the grid. The cause of the lawsuit was due to the production’s misleading behavior.

It doesn’t establish much about whether the show is real or fake, but this is also one of the major arguments when talking about the show’s authenticity.

Wren And Ini Share Their Experience With The Show

Years later, in January 2018, another couple, Wren and Ini, opened up about their experience with the show. The couple talked about the Raneys as genuine people who actually wanted to help people. They remarked Marty was an intense person who was always kind and caring. Moreover, they added that the trio were all genuine people with big hearts who worked hard to please and deliver what others wanted.

Hence, it’s not surprising to hear that this couple also said there is an immense amount of footage that’s shot for any show, and most of the huge chunks get cut off. In a forty-minute episode, there’s only so much one can show, which means most of the things are left unsaid or get misunderstood by the viewers.

Wren and Ini were rather nervous before their episode; however, once they watched it, they were very much relieved.
