Don't expect Justin Fields to come into his stretch of the final five Bears games uptight and playing with concern about his future.
It sounds like he'll let it fly and take his fate as it comes.
Talking about his future after this season and the possiblity the Bears could select a quarterback first in the 2024 NFL Draft, Fields turned a bit reflective and religious but moreso focused.
He's not focused on personal momentum aimed at the future as much as trying to win a game over Detroit, as usual.
"Personal momentum? I'm really just trying to be consistent," he said. "I think that's the biggest thing. You can play good one game, play bad the other.
"So me personally, it's just trying to be consistent and trying to be better than I was yesterday. Just trying to continually improve, get better as a person and a player and just better myself each and every day."
Fields wore a smile about the suggestion the Bears would take a QB first, maybe Caleb Williams of USC, and that he'd be somewhere else in 2024. He said he's never worried about it what's said about him or written.
"I don't think there was a point, shoot, since I got to Chicago, y'all don't hold back," he told reporters. "Shoot, I hear it from y'all, I hear it from fans and stuff like that. I don't take any of it personal because I know everybody's entitled to their opinion on certain things and stuff like that. That's one thing I try to do is not take anything personal, and just go about it that way.
"I've had moments in my life to where I've wanted things to happen that didn't go that way and it ended up going another way and it worked out better than I ever could have imagined."
An obvious one was how he started off at Georgia and wound up leaving for Ohio State.
"That's really why I just don't stress about stuff that happens and just controlling what I control and like I said earlier just being the best person I can be and striving to be the best player I can be," he said.
It all might seem unfair to judge Fields on what he's done considering his situation coming in with Matt Nagy in his final year, then going to a team in total rebuild before DJ Moore came to Chicago this year.
"Yeah, I mean, life isn't fair," Fields said. "So me personally, I'm just focused on what I can control, and the rest is in God’'s hands."
He called his faith the overriding factor in keeping him at ease.
"I'm very blessed in the position I am in, and I think a million people would love to be in the position I am right now," Fields said. "So really just, I'm not taking that for granted and just taking each and every moment I have every day up here to the fullest."
