It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lily McGroarty, a cherished member of The Glade community in Athenry, Co. Galway. Lily departed from this world on February 13th, 2024, leaving behind a void that can never be filled.
Lily was predeceased by her grandparents Betty, Sean, and Grandad Willie, her Godfather Kieran, and Uncle Ray. She will be deeply missed by her loving family: parents Brian and Lynn, sisters Hannah and Sophie, Grandmother Sadie, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, neighbors, and friends.
A wake will be held at Quinn’s Funeral Home, Athenry, on Thursday, February 15th, from 5 pm to 7 pm. The Funeral Service will take place at St. Nicholas Collegiate Church, Galway (H91PY20), at 1 pm on Friday, February 16th, followed by a private cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations to Pieta House would be appreciated.
The East Galway Celtics Basketball Club expressed their profound sorrow over Lily’s sudden demise. Lily was a valued member of their under 17 girl’s team, and her absence leaves a palpable void in the hearts of her teammates, coaches, and friends. The club extends heartfelt condolences to Lily’s grieving parents, sisters, and loved ones, suspending all activities until further notice in honor of Lily’s memory.
