Alexis Murphy’s Murder Case

Murphy was last seen on surveillance video at a Liberty petrol station in Lovingston on the evening of August 3, 2013, before disappearing without a trace. According to FBI investigators, her white 2003 Nissan Maxima GLE SE was recovered abandoned in Charlottesville three days after she was last seen driving it. She was murdered in one of the most startling and horrifying instances in the history of the United States.

During the course of the investigation into Murphy’s abduction, local, state, and federal investigators identified Taylor as the man who had been caught on security film at the gas station holding the door open for the juvenile as she entered. In May 2014, Taylor’s trial heard testimony from a cashier who stated that she overheard Taylor and Murphy conversing with each other.

When the store clerk called the police, Taylor’s prominent Daffy Duck neck tattoo was described as “distinctive.” According to Investigation Discovery, when investigators circulated images of the man who had been seen talking to Murphy, a local porn store owner recognised him as Taylor, who had been arrested.
