A fire forced the evacuation of a Davenport restaurant this afternoon.

The Davenport Fire Department was called to Thunder Bay Grill on Sunday, March 3 at about 1:08 p.m. Several fire trucks raced up Brady to reach the fire. First responders found an outside fire with thick black smoke pouring from the outside of the building. Firefighters poured water on an area near the back of the restaurant, extinguishing the fire.

Staff and guests evacuated from the building. One worker told Our Quad Cities News she and others were told to leave the building quickly when the fire was first reported.  Several of them gathered in the parking lot to watch firefighters fight the flames.

No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation. The dining area didn’t appear to have damage, but it’s not clear when the restaurant may reopen.
