The first round of Foo Fighters’ late Taylor Hawkins drummer’s tribute took place at Wembley Arena on Saturday, September 3. Star drummers like Taylor’s 16-year-old son Oliver Shane Hawkins Hawkins performed at the memorial event. According to social media footage, Oliver Hawkins played the drums for Foo Fighters’ iconic 1997 single My Hero. A slideshow of images of Oliver Hawkins and Taylor Hawkins was played on the screen in the background as he played the drums to introduce him to the audience.

Foo Fighters head Dave Grohl welcomed Shane onto the stage. He declared:

“We have another drummer who will be performing with us, and let me tell you, I have never seen anyone drumming as hard as this guy.”

He continued, noting:

“But, above all, he’s part of our family.” And he needs to be here tonight with all of us, so I believe it’s only natural for him to come and play with us. Hello Mr. Shane Hawkins drumming, ladies and gentlemen.”

Travis Barker, Josh Freese, Rufus Taylor and Nandi Bushell were among those who performed at the tribute show in London.

Dave Grohl, the frontman of the Foo Fighters and Hawkins’ best friend, also paid tribute to the late musician in an emotional speech. Grohl began the program by saying:

Dave Grohl went on to say:

“Those who have known him will recall that no one can make you smile, dance, or sing like him. And I’m sure many of you who admire him from afar feel the same way.”

Later in the concert, Grohl burst into tears while performing the band’s classic Times Like These, but fans continued to cheer him on. The Taylor Hawkins event also featured Liam Gallagher, Dave Chappelle, Stevie Nicks, Elton John and Jason Sudeikis, all of whom gave testimony to Hawkins’ effect. The next Hawkins tribute will be on September 27 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

What happened to Taylor Hawkins?

Taylor Hawkins passed away in March of this year at the age of 50. The drummer was touring South America with the Foo Fighters. On March 25, the band is scheduled to perform at the Estereo Picnic Festival in Bogota, Colombia. The initial toxicology test results showed that the male singer had 10 magic drugs in his body before his death. The Colombian Attorney General’s office does not attribute Hawkins’ death to a drug overdose. However, initial toxicity testing showed that marijuana, tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines, and opiates were among the ten chemicals identified in the artist’s system. Before his death, the musician is said to have complained of chest problems.

Hawkins was born in Fort Worth, Texas and spent his childhood in California. He rose to fame as a drummer on Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill tour in the late 1990s. Hawkins married longtime girlfriend Alison in 2005. Hawkins left behind a son. , Oliver Shane, and two daughters, Annabelle and Everleigh.

During his career, Hawkins contributed to eight Foo Fighters albums. Nothing To Lose (1999), One By One (2002), Your Honor (2005), Echo, Silence, Patience & Grace (2007), Wasted Light (2011), Speed hypersonic on high roads (2014), Concrete and Gold (2017) and Midnight Pills (2018) are among them (2021).
