Oscar Mayorga, Who Is He? 25-Year-Old On Duty Police Officer Is Detained For Drunken Driving
APOPKA, FLORIDA: Oscar Mayorga, a 25-year-old Florida police officer, was discovered swerving down the street in a police cruiser by his coworkers. He was arrested for drunken driving while on duty. According to the authorities, the amount of alcohol discovered in his body was five times the permissible limit. He is currently on an indefinite leave of absence without pay. On July 4, this incident took place when a nearby citizen alerted the police after seeing Mayorga cause chaos by blowing through stop signs in his car. The local claimed that he was “all over the road.”
Mayorga was a member of the Apopka Police Department for five years. According to police, throughout his rambling ramble, he informed his coworkers that he was ill and on his way to work. The 25-year-old admitted to drinking three tall boys before his shift at the neighborhood police station that evening. He allegedly indicated he wouldn’t have a problem as long as he gave himself six hours between drinking and starting his shift.
Mayorga is being questioned by the police in the dramatic bodycam video, which the Eustis Police Department eventually made public. After that, he was loaded onto a stretcher and driven in an ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. The responding officer smelled strong alcohol coming from inside the cruiser and noticed an open beer can in the center console. According to reports, he had overlooked the open beer can in the middle cup holder that the other police had seen.
Mayorga initially asserted that he was abstaining from alcohol and used painkillers to treat his discomfort. But he eventually admitted to drinking. The police told the driver, “There is an open container of alcohol in your vehicle.” “Have you had any alcohol today?” The cop mumbled, “That’s, no… that’s maybe three days old.” “Okay. Your breath smells alcoholic, and I can smell it.” The tattooed officer replied, “Not really, but… if you guys could take care of me right now,” before he trailed off when asked if he wanted to go to the hospital.
Police urged the officer to place his hands on the car’s roof and took away his weapon. He was detained after refusing to be taken to the hospital and was placed under detention with a $1,000 bond. Mayorga had a blood alcohol level of 0.391g/210L, which is nearly five times the 0.08g legal limit. While the police continue their investigation into the incident, he was put on administrative leave.
