Mort Metzger is played by Ron Masak on the CBS crime drama series Murder, She Wrote. After Amos Tupper retired, Mort became the sheriff of Cabot Cove, Maine. Metzger is a former New York Police Department officer who moved to Cabot Cove with his wife, Adele, in hopes of finding peace and quiet. He drives a red 1976 Cadillac Eldorado convertible and helps Jessica Fletcher solve all of Cabot Cove’s crimes. Metzger is married, although his wife never appears in the film. It was a repeat that debuted on the fifth season and lasted until the end of the show. Murder, She Wrote ran for 12 seasons, from September 30, 1984 to May 19, 1996, with 264 episodes. Floyd Louis Masak and Mildred Alice Rudy were born Ron Masak on July 1, 1936. From 1960 to 1961, Ron traveled the world and performed impersonators in the musical Rolling Along. He then starred in the short film Second Attempt in 1968, followed by a supporting role in the submarine action film Ice Station Zebra the following year.
The actor appeared as a guest on the NBC sitcom I Dream of Jeannie and as Herbie Maddox in the 1978 comedy Harper Valley PTA. This was followed by a part in The Rockford Files, a crime drama. Masak made his television debut in an episode of The Twilight Zone in 1960, followed by spin-offs such as The Flying Nun, Bewitched, and Irving Bates, Sr. in an episode of Land of the Lost.
Masak went on to appear on television in such series as The Feather and Father Gang, The Eddie Capra Mysteries, and others. Ron Masak received critical acclaim for his performance in Murder, She Wrote. During the 1980s and 1990s, he was known as the “King of Ads” for frequently voicing many commercials. He even voiced Meatballs & Spaghetti in the video game Medal of Honor: European Assault.
Ronald appeared on the game show To Tell the Truth as a panelist. He then went on to participate in additional game shows such as March Game, Password Plus, and Super Password. In a 1998 episode of Ashes to Ashes, he played Eddie Fenelle. His wife, Kay Knebes, and six children survived him.
