Sean Patrick Richards Obituary – Hinsdale Car Accident: Benet Academy incoming freshman dies following hit-and-run crash outside of Hinsdale’s Fontano’s Subs.
A 14-year-old boy who was struck by a car outside of Hinsdale’s Fontano’s Subs on Monday, July 17th, has died.
The boy is now identified as Sean Patrick Richards, an incoming freshman of Benet Academy.
“Incoming freshmen, Sean Richards (brother of Finn ‘25, Grace ‘22 and Connor ‘21) was hit by a car and critically injured yesterday in Hinsdale,” a social media post shared with Benet Academy on Tuesday read.
“The Richards family has asked for our prayers for Sean, his doctors and nurses, and others involved in the accident.”
According to reports, Richards was walking outside the restaurant when he was struck by the vehicle. The car crashed inside the restaurant, injuring three other people, police said.
Hinsdale police have said an accident reconstruction team is examining the crash.
