With 39 points, Caitlin Clark will break the NCAA all-time scoring record. Sunday in Lincoln, Nebraska, it’s a very real possibility — Clark’s crossed the 39-point mark three times this season.

For Clark’s head coach Lisa Bluder, the record will happen when it happens. The focus remains on winning.

“It’s gonna happen — so to me, that’s not important,” Bluder said of Clark’s chase for the record. “It’s important to win this game. I would rather break it at home, just because I think our Carver-Hawkeye fans deserve that. But believe me that our No. 1 priority will be to win the game at Nebraska.”

Bluder also revealed that will be some ceremonial activities that will come if and when Clark breaks the record.

“I know our marketing department has been preparing. We’ve been advised that we shouldn’t stop the game, we’ve been advised that by the officials so we’ll live with that.”

Clark was not made available to the media after Iowa’s win over Penn State on Thursday, but Bluder shared that she believes this is not a burden to Clark.

“This is the time of her life, she’s enjoying every minute of it. She’s just busting it down. It’s no burden. She’s having fun with it. And I just I credit her maturity so much for that.”
