Did you think you’d ever be seeing Tim Allen back as Scott Calvin? Perhaps not, but that’s exactly what The Santa Clauses delivers and audiences have recently been tuning into weekly installments of the Christmas comedy series on Disney+.

Created by Jack Burditt, the project serves as a sequel to The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, which is the third installment of the film series that began with the original in 1994.

Tim reprises the Santa role with a cast featuring the likes of Elizabeth Mitchell, Eric Lloyd, and David Krumholtz.

While it’s gone down well since it began premiering on Wednesday, November 16th, 2022, there has been some concern around a recent moment. With that in mind, let’s get The Santa Clauses ‘we love you Satan’ scene explained.

The Santa Clauses ‘we love you Satan’ scene explained

A number of audiences have drawn attention to episode 3 of The Santa Clauses – titled Into The Wobbly Wood – and one scene specifically.

The sequence shows a group of children all holding cards with one letter each. They quickly work to arrange themselves in a formation to spell out a message.

Once gathered, the message reads “we love you Satan.” This scene is real and does feature in the episode, as there has been some speculation regarding whether screenshots on social media have been edited.

However, context is everything. The children wanted to spell out “we love you Santa” and the scene is ultimately a visual gag. Tim’s Santa addresses this in the scene too, telling the kids that they should check their spelling.

Realizing their mistake, they rearrange themselves to spell out Santa instead of Satan.

Nevertheless, some have hopped onto Twitter to share how funny they found the gag.

This #TheSantaClauses show is fantastic. They had a Satan/Santa spelling gag and like the humor and all. Kal Penn and Tim's Santa is great.

Is The Santa Clauses renewed for season 2?

No, Disney has billed the project as a mini-series so there’s no reason to expect another season.

On the other hand, Kal Penn (who plays Simon Choksi) has revealed to Collider that he’d be down to make more:

“If you’re asking whether I’d be down for a Season 2 and 3, I’m super down. I thought it was great. There’s definitely a wonderful plot to these six episodes. It didn’t feel rushed. It didn’t feel too long. I loved this cast and crew.”

He added: “It was truly just a joy to walk into the North Pole every day, with these amazing people, and get to do this. So, yeah, I’d love to do this for a long time, if we could.”

The Santa Clauses is streaming exclusively on Disney+.
