One person sustained burns and two vehicles and two motorcycles were damaged in a fire in Galesburg yesterday.

The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 1100 block of S. Pearl Street on Wednesday, February 14 at about 11:16 a.m. Their response included all three stations and 11 personnel on duty.

When they arrived, fire crews found a heavy fire showing from the front of a detached garage. The Brooks Street crew made the initial attack and extinguished the fire. No people or pets were found within the garage, but the owner sustained burns while escaping the building. The owner was treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital.

Preliminary damages are estimated at about $40,000. The garage sustained heavy fire and smoke damage, two other structures sustained exposure damage, and two vehicles and two motorcycles were damaged in the fire. Investigators have ruled the fire unintentional.
