Vampiro was never that much of a star in the US, which was a shame as I thought he was pretty damn cool in WCW, and would have loved to have seen him come to WWE when they bought WCW in 2001 but it wasn't to be.
However, he was massive in Mexico. In Chris Jericho's first book, Y2J talks about how Vampiro was THE guy in Mexico and kept doing whatever he could to screw Jericho and keep him down, going as far as starting false stories about Jericho supposedly preparing to walk out on the company and demanding to find out weekly how much money Jericho was making. He does sound like a bit of a wanker to be honest.
I did enjoy seeing him in TNA for a very short while, as part of the New Church and have seen him make appearances for XPW several years ago, but I haven't really heard much from him in the last couple of years
