Gia Vang was born in 1986 to Thai parents. In her birthplace of Sacramento, California, she earned a journalism degree from Sacramento State University.
As a reporter at a television station in Fresno, California, the anchor began her career. In June 2019, she joined KARE 11 as the Twin Cities’ first Hmong-American TV anchor.
