Saturday Night Live is one example (1995–2000)

After relocating to Los Angeles at the age of 25, Oteri spent the first four years of his career working at A&M Records before joining the renowned comedy troupe The Groundlings. In 1995, the producers of Saturday Night Live (SNL) went to a performance of fellow Groundlings member Chris Kattan with the purpose of auditioning him for a role on the show.
