Who was Bill Russell’s wife Jeannine?

As per Fabwags, Jeannine was a competitive golfer. Just like Bill, Jeannine has also won several competitions over the years.

She finished 64 at the Canadian Women Tour in British Columbia and 19th at the Canadian Women Tour in Ontario in 2010. In 2010, she was also named Player of the Year.

Posting a picture of them, he wrote: “Happy 1-year vow renewal #Anniversary to my wonderful wife. We realized today we were married on the 8th, and renewed our vows on the 24th.”

This was Bill’s fourth marriage. Prior to this, he was married to  Rose Swisher (1956–1973), Dorothy Anstett (1977–1980), and Marilyn Nault (1996–2009).

Did they have any kids?

Bill and Jeannine did not have any kids together. However, the NBA player did have children from his previous marriage.

He has three children, Jacob Russell, William Russell Jr., and Karen Russell. They were all born during his first marriage.

What we know about his death

Bill, who was 88, died surrounded by his close friends and family. His wife, Jeannine was by his side. A cause of death was not released.

However, the news was confirmed via a statement that was released on all his social media platforms. The statement read: “Bill’s understanding of the struggle is what illuminated his life. From boycotting a 1961 exhibition game to unmask too-long-tolerated discrimination, to leading Mississippi’s first integrated basketball camp in the combustible wake of Medgar [Evers’] assassination, to decades of activism ultimately recognized by his receipt of the Presidential Medal of Freedom … Bill called out injustice with an unforgiving candor that he intended would disrupt the status quo, and with a powerful example that, though never his humble intention, will forever inspire teamwork, selflessness and thoughtful change.”

The post ended with thanking everyone for the constant support they had shown Bill.
